I’ve had a pretty good weekend. Jam packed, but lots of fun. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve always looked forward to my weekends (apart from in my teens when I worked retail) but I look forward to them even more so now because it’s the only time I get to see my boyfriend.
This weekend we had lots of plans, on Friday night we went to the big weekend in Cambridge. If you’re not from here or you are and you just don’t know what it is – it’s basically a bunch of local acts and a few z-listers who come and play and have a little festival in the city centre. There’s food, drink and usually a bit of sunshine. It’s not something I would set my calendar by, but it’s a bit of fun if you’ve got no plans.
Saturday morning we were up and ready to go as my little sister was doing a few stalls to raise some money for cancer research as we were going to be taking part in race for Life the following day. She had a tombolla, cake stall, guess the name of the teddy, guess how many sweets in the jar and my boyfriend had a stall taking some pet portraits. It was quite fun, we met a few new people and got to play with some puppies and my sister raised a bunch of money for a great cause.
Saturday afternoon we stayed at my mum’s house for a BBQ and it was loads of fun. I have one of those dysfunctional families where, when we all get together, there’s plenty of bullying, we all laugh and usually someone is in tears. Luckily for me, I wasn’t crying!
On Sunday was the big day, we took part in race for Life, my brother and sister ran and myself, my boyfriend, my mum and her partner and my sister in law all walked with the dogs. We had a great time and raised money and awareness for an excellent cause. I don’t know if it was the heat or not having walked for a while but I was shattered after. We went home and I’m pretty ashamed to admit it but I went to bed and had a three hour nap. My boyfriend actually woke me up because he was worried I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night. I mean, I guess he was right because I’m currently laying here, writing this!
Let me know what you did at the weekend, or just laugh at my misfortune and inability to adult.
Love,
Alice x
