Treat box unboxing | October

I have always loved subscription boxes, I find it so exciting getting a little present delivered to your door each month! It’s a great way of trying out new things that you might not normally think to buy and give yourself a bit of love.

In the past I have subscribed to beauty boxes like birch box and glossy box but this time I decided to go for a box with a bit more of a range of products. I did plenty of research about which box is best and in the end I decided to go for treat box! It’s a UK based company and it’s a smaller business so the money is supporting someone’s dream which I love.

I got home from work to find my treat box waiting for me and I was so excited! It comes in a brown box which is put inside a clear plastic bag. The plastic bag has cute decor on it and I’m guessing it’s used to keep the parcel waterproof and contained. I would really rather it came as just the brown box but that’s a minor, environmental frustration rather than an issue specifically with the company or the box!

I opened the box up and it felt a bit like Christmas! There was a tissue paper wrapped package with all the treats inside and a note on the top telling me what it inside my box. I actually got two notes but I think that was just a mistake! The note has a bit of information about the company and a cute calendar of the month on one side and information about all of the products on the other side. I tried not to look because I wanted it to be a surprise at first!

Chocolate Brownie Mug Mix
Delicious Belgian chocolate mug brownie mix. Make an irresistible microwave brownie in just 2 minutes. Perfect topped with ice cream, whipped cream or marshmallows.
The first thing I spotted in my box was this brownie mug mix. Now I have never had a good experience with a cake in a mug. I don’t know what I do wrong but it always comes out burnt or not cooked, or it explodes or it just tastes horrible. I don’t know if it’s me or the recipes I’ve used but it’s never ended well! I am quite excited to give this a go and see if I can have a better experience with this one! The packet says that you just have to add milk and butter so it sounds easy enough!

Drink me Chai Latte sachet
Cosy up with a yummy spiced chai latte from Drink me Chai.. A powdered blend of aromatic spices with skimmed milk and sweetened black tea
Believe it or not, this couldn’t have come at a better time for me. I’m on the hunt for a flavoured hot drink that I enjoy to drink in the mornings at work. I do like a cup of tea but I feel like I just need something different in the morning to get me set up for the day. I’m excited to give this a try and see if it tastes great. If it does, I’m definitely going to buy some more because I noticed on the back of the packet, it says that they donate a percentage of their profits to Pratham, a charity who helps disadvantaged children in India to read. I really support that and I actually love that it’s a bit more subtle on the back and they’re not using that to encourage people to buy the drink!

Panda Socks
Un-bear-ably cute and super comfy. We could’t have a hygge inspired box without some cosy socks and these are so handy. I love to add them to the box. High quality, soft fabric making them extra comfy
I love these, you can never have too many pairs of socks (says the girl who’s sock drawer doesn’t actually shut) and especially when they’re this cute! They’re made by the company Joe Cool UK and they’re very soft. I think I’m going to save these for a cosy pamper day indoors when its cold out and really snuggle up!

Once you’ve had a little pamper then something warm and yummy to eat and drink, it’s time to cosy up with a good book. That’s when this bookmark comes in handy.
Now this is just a girl after my own heart. I love a good bookmark – I don’t know if it’s just me but I seem to go through bookmarks just as quickly as I go through books! I don’t know what happens but they seem to vanish and suddenly I’m using an older paper bag to mark my page. I also love the quote on this one, so I will be swapping out my paper bag for this!

Purple tree miracle balm
Purple tree miracle balm uses natural oils to moisturise and provide relief from dry, cracked and irritated lips and skin. Its multi-purpose formula can also be used to protect brittle nails and cuticles and for cosmetic finishes such as taming eyebrows and elongating the appearance of eyelashes.
I’m quite excited about this, it’s a decent sized tube – big enough that it’s actually got product in, but small enough you can keep it in your bag. It says that it’s cruelty free and vegan friendly which I support and it seems to have a tonne of different uses! I’m excited to give it a try and let you know what I think of it! It does have a very light smell which is nice because it’s not too overpowering.

Afterspa 2-in-1 sponge and soap
Clean, exfoliate and polish your skin daily with this soap with integrated sponge. Unique in the market and clinically tested.
I’m intrigued about this and excited to try it. So far I’ve never actually found a solid soap that has left my skin feeling nice. I always find that they leave it feeling like there’s a residue or like it’s been fully stripped of any natural oils. I’m interested to see how this works out and feels on my skin but also how it lasts. Hopefully it won’t end up gross if I’m leaving a wet, soapy sponge in the shower..

Recipe notepad
Keep your recipes organised in style with this stylish desk pad. Featuring handy organised sections, cooking will never be a chore again.
I was initially really excited by this because it’s super cute and I do love a pad! When I actually thought about it, I realised it’s something I will probably not get that much use out of because either I don’t use recipes or I’ll use an online one so it won’t be written down. I still think it will be handy to have though, perhaps if I really like a recipe, I can write it down and put it up on the fridge! If I really don’t get any use out of this, I think it would make a super cute present, perhaps with some baking bits!

Recipe card and voucher
The final thing in the box is a recipe card to make millionaires shortbread which looks insanely good. I definitely can’t wait to try that out and a voucher for a reduced box from a baking subscription service. It looks like a pretty good deal to try out a different box so I think I’m going to give it a go. I love a bit of baking and you can’t get better than an easy recipe with pre prepared ingredients!

All in all, I am really happy with the box. I think it was worth the money and a perfect after work pick me up! I’m definitely going to continue my subscription and see what I get next month! I think there’s probably only the recipe pad that I won’t get too much use from but as I said, I could always pass that on!

Have you tried treat box? Do you subscribe to any monthly boxes?

Love, Alice x
